Saturday, October 20

On your own, spend the day at the State Fair of Texas. Be greeted by “Big Tex,” visit car shows, livestock breed displays, pig races, and Children’s Medical Center Barnyard, ride the 208 foot high Texas Star Ferris Wheel or 70 other Midway Rides, play games on the Midway, and sample World Famous Fletcher’s Corndogs and Fried Coke!   Also, visit the biggest new car and truck show in the Southwest featuring 2008 models. Ask the concierge for transportation arrangements.  The State Fair of Texas is just a short ride away from Downtown Dallas.  General Admission:  $14.00.  Age 60+: $10.00.  If you drive, parking is $10.00 and valet parking is $20.00. Take a Gray Line’s “Fort Worth Stockyards and City Tour.” Visit Fort Worth, Texas also known as “Cowtown USA.”  Visit downtown Fort Worth for lunch, the cultural district and Botanic Gardens.  Then, go to the Stockyards to see a herd of longhorns driven through the streets of Fort Worth or take a bus tour to Old Historic Grapevine (see Thursday itinerary below for details of this trip).  This tour departs from the corner of Elm and Houston Streets at 12:30 p.m. and returns at 5:00 p.m.  Cost is $40.00 per adult and $20.00 per child.

Monday, October 22: Shop at Neiman Marcus

10:00 a.m.: Meet at the concierge desk to visit the Flagship Neiman Marcus at the corner of Main Street and Ervay, which opened in 1907.  Dine at the famous Zodiac Tearoom for lunch.  Note:  If you plan to shop, Neiman Marcus accepts Neiman Marcus or American Express credit cards or cash only.

Tuesday, October 23: Tour the City of Dallas, Gray Line Tour

09:30 a.m.:  Meet at the Concierge Desk.  We will walk to the corner of Elm and Houston, where the bus will pick us up for the tour.

10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.:  Dallas City Coach Tour.  Morning: $40.00 per adult; $20.00 per child.   This tour will take you to the Sixth Floor Museum, Dealey Plaza.

12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.: Southfork Ranch Tour.  Afternoon: $30.00 per adult; $15.00 per child.  After stopping for lunch, the bus will travel to Southfork Ranch where you will visit the home of the Ewing family from the Dallas television series.  You will have the opportunity to tour the museum, ranch and the Ewing Mansion.  After touring Southfork, the bus will return to Dallas and tour the town of Highland Park, which has some of the most beautiful mansions in Dallas.

The combined cost for both tours is $50.00 per adult; $30.00 per child, plus funds for lunch.

Wednesday, October 24: Visit the Dallas Art District and the West End Historic District

11:00 a.m.: Meet at the Concierge Desk to visit the Dallas Museum of Art and the Trammel and Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art in the Arts District.  After spending the morning in the Arts District, travel by trolley to the West End Historic District for lunch and shopping.  Admission to the Dallas Museum of Art: Adults $10.00, Children under age 12, free.  For more information about the museum, visit the Dallas Museum of Art.  

Thursday, October 25, 2007: Grapevine City and Delaney Vineyards Tour

On your own, walk to the corner of Elm and Houston Streets to catch the Gray Line Tour Bus.

12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Have lunch at the West End Historic District at a place of your choice.  After lunch, depart for the Delaney Vineyards for a winery tour and learn about grape-growing, harvesting, wine-making and bottling processes.  Wine-tasting is optional.  After visiting the vineyard, the tour will head for downtown Grapevine and view the old-style 1900’s architecture.  Shop in the downtown boutiques and visit the wine-tasting rooms!
