As a teenager Michael Holloway could run really fast and catch baseballs well. As a young adult he wanted to be a constitutional lawyer or college professor. As an old man, he is a senior researcher at NASA Langley Research Center, his employer since 1983, where his research seeks to combine epistemology, engineering, and ethics to build sound foundations for making decisions about safety of highly automated systems. He can neither catch baseballs well nor run fast anymore.
